Model United Nations At DPS Kamptee Road
DPS Kamptee Road, #Nagpur successfully organised DELMUN 8.0, a two-day Model United Nations conference that brought together over 1100 delegates from schools and colleges across the city. The conference provided a vibrant platform for the students to engage in meaningful debates, develop critical thinking and nurture the spirit of diplomacy. With the committees simulating global, national and specialised agendas, the conference addressed a wide range of political, economic and social concerns. The eighth edition was held under the inspiring theme ‘Under the Wings of Griffin, Leaders Take Flight’, which encouraged young minds to find the courage to express themselves, listen with purpose and emerge as confident leaders.
The grand opening ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Nitin Rakesh, Director, Symbiosis Institute of Technology, as the Chief Guest. The Principal, Ms. Yogeeta Umalkar, welcomed the august gathering and addressed the delegates, highlighting DELMUN as a platform where young minds learn to question, debate, listen and lead. The virtual presence of Ms. Tulika Kedia, President and Pro Vice Chairperson, Delhi Public School Kamptee Road and MIHAN, Nagpur added to the significance of the occasion as she extended her heartfelt wishes and blessings to the DELMUN family. Mr. Anunay Kedia and Ms. Savita Jaiswal, Director, Delhi Public School Kamptee Road and MIHAN Nagpur also sent their warm wishes, appreciating the vibrant participation and encouraging the students to uphold the values of dialogue, unity and leadership.
The opening ceremony featured an energetic dance performance by the delegates, followed by an electrifying presentation by the school band, Cosmic Rhythm. The formal declaration of DELMUN 8.0 was made by the Secretary General, Mr. Sajanbir Singh Kohli and Deputy Secretary General, Ms. Aanya Singh, along with the Under-Secretaries General. The delegates were then invited to proceed to their allotted committees and embark on two enriching days of debate, diplomacy and learning.
DELMUN 8.0 served as a dynamic platform for young minds to engage in meaningful debate where a total of 20 committees simulated global, national and specialised agendas, covering political, economic and social concerns. From discussions on freedom of speech, artificial intelligence governance, global terrorism and de-dollarisation to dynamic crisis simulations such as World War III and the 1857 uprising, each committee challenged the participants to research, deliberate and collaborate on solutions to pressing issues.
The eventful two-day conference concluded with the closing ceremony where outstanding delegates and committees were recognised and awarded for their performances. The conference not only celebrated diplomacy and dialogue but also inspired the youth to become responsible global citizens, leaving an indelible mark on every participant.
