80th Independence Day

To honour the spirit of freedom and pay tribute to the courage and sacrifices that shaped our nation, DPS Kamptee Road, #Nagpur celebrated the 80th Independence Day with great pride and patriotic fervour on 15th August, 2026. The celebration also marked the school’s significant milestone of Twenty Years of Excellence, bringing together the twin journeys of a nation shaped by freedom and an institution dedicated to shaping the future through education.
 
The celebration commenced with the soulful rendition of ‘Vande Mataram’, the National Song, creating an atmosphere of patriotism and pride. This was followed by the Flag Hoisting, after which the National Anthem was sung with reverence by the gathering. The patriotic spirit continued with the rendition of the State Song, ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha’. The ceremony concluded with the Flag Song, during which the students marched proudly across the ground, adding a sense of discipline, unity and grandeur to the celebration.
 
The occasion was graced by the esteemed Chief Guest, Lieutenant Colonel Vineeth Nair, Centre Adjutant, Guards Regimental Centre, Kamptee. The celebration also witnessed the gracious presence of Lieutenant Colonel Ms. Priyanka Nair, whose presence added to the significance of the occasion. The presence of the special guest, Mr. Vijay Dighe, Senior Police Inspector, further added warmth and honour to the celebration. The dignitaries were warmly welcomed and felicitated by the Principal, Ms. Yogeeta Umalkar.
 
The virtual presence of Ms. Tulika Kedia, President and Pro Vice Chairperson, DPS Kamptee Road and MIHAN, Nagpur added to the significance of the occasion. Her inspiring presence reflected her continued support for the school’s journey of excellence. Ms. Savita Jaiswal, Director, DPS Kamptee Road and MIHAN, Nagpur also graced the celebration virtually and extended her warm wishes, appreciating the efforts of the students and staff and encouraging them to uphold the values of excellence, responsibility and service. Mr. Indrajeet Parganiah, Bursar, DPS Kamptee Road and MIHAN, Nagpur also conveyed his best wishes to the school community. The Principal’s address highlighted the school’s twenty-year journey of excellence and its commitment to nurturing brilliant minds, compassionate hearts and responsible citizens.
 
The Pledge of Allegiance was administered by the special guest, Mr. Vijay Dighe, Senior Police Inspector, who encouraged the students to uphold the values of patriotism, integrity, discipline, responsibility and service towards the nation. The pledge also reinforced the commitment to building a Drug-Free India by making healthy and responsible choices, staying away from substance abuse and inspiring others to lead a safe and positive life. The cultural programme featured impactful speeches by the students, followed by a soulful choir presentation of ‘Kesari Baana Sajaye’. A powerful Dance Drama by the students brought alive a defining chapter of India’s freedom struggle through music, movement and expression. The students then presented an energetic exercise sequence, sports drill and yoga display, showcasing physical fitness, discipline and coordination. A captivating tabla performance further celebrated India’s rich cultural and musical heritage.
 
The Chief Guest, Lieutenant Colonel Vineeth Nair, addressed the gathering and shared his valuable thoughts on leadership, service and the responsibilities of the citizens. His inspiring words reminded the students that true leadership is rooted in service and that the freedom enjoyed today carries with it the responsibility to contribute positively to the nation.
 
The programme concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, school leadership, teachers, staff and students. The celebration left everyone inspired to honour the nation’s legacy, uphold the values of freedom and responsibility and continue the journey of excellence with integrity and pride.
