Summer Camp Day-3
The third day of the Summer Camp at DPS Kamptee Road was filled with enthusiasm, creativity and skill-building activities. The day began with energetic dance sessions where the students continued working on the first stanza of their routines in freestyle, contemporary, Hip-Hop and locking-popping. Special focus was given to body control and energy through isolation exercises involving head, shoulders and chest movements. The students also practised simple footwork in Hip-Hop and participated in an engaging Zumba cardio routine, gradually moving towards a mini choreography that helped build stamina and coordination.
In the music segment, the students explored deeper aspects of semi-classical and rhythmic Indian music, focusing on eye and neck expressions to enhance their performance skills. The instrumental sessions included practising disco rhythm on drums, rhythm control on tabla and hand percussion, alankar practice on the synthesiser and chord practice on the guitar. The vocal group progressed to the second part of a raga, strengthening their understanding of melody and expression. These sessions provided a well-rounded exposure to both vocal and instrumental music.
The creative domain saw the students actively participating in paper craft demonstrations and clay modelling, where they added colours to their Shivling smoke fountain creations. The Digital design sessions introduced the concept of creating digital keychains, sparking innovation and interest in design tools. In Robotics, the students continued their work and showcased their final robots with excitement and pride. The Tech Explorers segment allowed the students to create animated stories using AI tools, where they brainstormed ideas, designed characters and added voiceovers, making the experience both imaginative and technologically enriching.
The sports activities continued with equal vigour as the students practised dribbling techniques in football, service in pickleball and batting skills such as backlift and downswing in cricket. The basketball sessions focused on two and three-man passing, while badminton emphasised footwork and shuttle judgement. The students also engaged in mini games in chess and learnt proper stance and passing in hockey. The karate sessions included practising punches and blocks and skating focused on V-shape forward movement with light rolling. The swimming sessions helped the students build confidence through breathing control, floating, freestyle and back kicking along with flutter kick drills. The day concluded on a high note, with the students feeling more confident, expressive and eager to continue their learning journey in the camp.
