Summer Camp Day -2
The second day of the Summer Camp at DPS Kamptee Road, #Nagpur continued with great enthusiasm and active participation from the students. The day began with energetic warm-up sessions in Zumba and Hip-Hop, focusing on basic foundations such as stretching, rhythm-building and coordination. The students practised fundamental movements like bounce, rock and groove along with Zumba steps including merengue and salsa. Dance sessions in freestyle, contemporary, Hip-Hop and locking-popping progressed to choreography on the first stanza, enabling students to apply their learnt steps with confidence and expression.
In the music segment, the students explored semi-classical and rhythmic Indian music through basic footwork patterns. Instrumental sessions introduced disco rhythm on drums, bass and tone sounds on tabla and hand percussion, and alankar and finger practice on the synthesiser. Guitar sessions focused on simple tunes to understand frets, while the vocal group practised the first part of a raga. These sessions helped students strengthen their sense of rhythm and musical understanding.
The creative sessions saw the students actively engaged in 3-D model making, clay modelling and pottery, where they crafted unique items such as a Shivling smoke fountain. Digital design activities continued with designing digital pillow covers, encouraging imagination and technical skills. The Brain Gym session introduced positive affirmations using sticky notes, promoting self-confidence and positivity. In Robotics, the students worked on their Robot-1, while the Tech Explorers segment introduced them to AI-based image generation tools like Craiyon, Deep Dream Generator, AutoDraw and ArtBreeder. Activities such as 'Draw Your Dream World' and AI art contests sparked curiosity and innovation among the learners.
The sports activities remained equally engaging, with students practising ball control in football, batting grip and stance in cricket, and learning dribbling and passing techniques in basketball and hockey. They also explored pickleball, handball, badminton and chess, gaining knowledge of rules and basic strategies. Karate sessions focused on basic kumite rules and punching techniques, while skating helped students improve balance through V-shape walking. Swimming sessions emphasised breathing techniques, floating with support, push and glide movements, and basic kicking practice. The day concluded with students feeling accomplished and excited to explore more in the days ahead.
