Greetings !

We would like to give you information about Hand Foot and Mouth disease which is prevalent these days.

HFMD usually affects infants and children, and is quite common. It is moderately contagious and is spread through direct contact with the mucus, or saliva of an infected person. It usually occurs during the summer and autumn months. The usual incubation period is 3–7 days.

It is less common in adults; however, it is still possible to catch it especially if never exposed to the virus previously.

You can take a few simple steps to reduce the risk.

·   Wash your hands often with soap and water/use hand sanitizer frequently.

·   Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

·   Avoid close contact (kissing, hugging, sharing cups and eating utensils) with people who are infected.

·   Disinfect frequently touched surfaces (toys, doorknobs, etc.), especially if someone is sick.

The school is taking the following steps for prevention:-

·     All toys are sanitized daily.

·     The furniture and floors are cleaned with disinfectant daily.

·      Carpets, cushions etc. are dry cleaned weekly.
